Early January this year (2013) Hot Toys actually announce that they are planning to work on Diecast version of the Iron Man figures from Iron Man 1, 2, 3 and The Avengers. Looks like this is happening already with the release of their first Diecast collectible, the Iron Patriot.

Then, we spotted some scanned pages of Figure King Magazine #182 from Japan shared in the Hot Toys Community in Facebook confirming that the Mark XLII is currently in prototype mode. No date are shared on when this figure going to be released for pre-order.

This will be exciting because other then Hot Toys, the other company that is also working on Diecast figure this year is Play Imaginative, that already confirm that they will release Mark XLII, War Machine & Iron Patriot in 2 different sizes; 1/4 Scale and 1/12 Scale. They also have the planned date for the release as shown in the picture below. So no guessing on when we will expect to get these baby! Bring it on Hot Toys & Play Imaginative!!!
Super Alloy Iron Man 3
During the recent Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention (STGCC), we saw another breed of collectibles that is taking place. Super Alloy collectibles. We first came across the 1/6th Scale Super Alloy Batman licensed by Play Imaginative started taking pre-orders from the local hobby shops in KL and we thought it was not cheap, RM 850++ for this figure. This figure comprise at least 85% die-cast metal alloy, with more than 50 points of articulation.
The exciting thing is, Play Imaginative is going to release Iron Man Mark VII from the movie The Avengers with the same material used for the Batman figure above. The figure also have 50 points of articulation. We think this figure will be a great addition to any Iron Man collectors out there. Let’s wait and see if this figure will be a great competition to Hot Toys that have been dominating the Iron Man collectibles since the first Iron Man movie and the upcoming Iron Man 3 movie.
